The Prizery Welcomes Jake McGrath as New Music Teacher

The Prizery proudly welcomes Jake McGrath as the new Music Teacher for its Pre-K Arts Academy program. McGrath brings a dynamic blend of musical talent, classroom experience, and leadership in performance education to the organization, inspiring young learners through rhythm, song, and creative expression.

A graduate of Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts, McGrath holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education (Pre-K–12) and has taught a wide range of students, from early learners to high school musicians. Before joining The Prizery, he served as Pre-K–8 Music Educator at Netcong Elementary School in New Jersey, where he led general music classes, choir, and band programs, as well as a summer musical
theatre initiative.

McGrath’s specialties include French Horn, and the Flute, and his background spans both classroom instruction and professional performance. He has worked with multiple award-winning programs as a Band and Choir Director, Colorguard Advisor, and Visual/Music Technician, helping ensembles achieve national and state championship titles and raising performance qualities from excellent to superior.

In addition to his teaching work, McGrath is an active performer, playing French Horn with the Danville Symphony Orchestra. “Jake’s energy, musicianship, and passion for teaching make him an incredible addition
to our arts education team,” said Kristy Johnson, Executive Director of The Prizery. “He brings a wonderful balance of performance experience and classroom expertise that will truly enrich our Pre-K music program.”

The Prizery’s Pre-K Arts Academy, now celebrating its 20th year, is a partnership with Halifax County Public Schools made possible through Title I funding. The program provides four-year-old students with creative learning experiences in Art, Music, and Interactive Storytelling & Movement, fostering imagination, confidence, and joy through the arts.
