The Prizery Celebrates 20 Years of Inspiring Young Learners Through ThePrizery’s Pre-K Arts Academy

The Prizery proudly marks the 20th anniversary of its Pre-K Arts Academy, a beloved six-week program that has introduced generations of Halifax County’s youngest learners to the world of creativity and expression.

The Pre-K Arts Academy is a longstanding partnership between The Prizery and Halifax County Public Schools, made possible through Title I funding. Each fall, the program invites four-year-old students to explore their imaginations through three engaging classes—Art, Music, and Interactive Storytelling & Movement—all designed to spark creativity, build confidence, and nurture a lifelong love of learning.

This year’s academy welcomed three new teachers to the program: Obie Coleman, Art Teacher; Jake McGrath, Music Teacher; and Allison Snead, Interactive Storytelling and Movement Teacher. Before stepping into their classrooms, all three educators participated in an intensive training session led by longtime Prizery Pre-K Art Teacher Susi Robbins, whose experience and mentorship have been central to the program’s continued success.

“For twenty years, this program has shown how powerful the arts can be in shaping young minds,” said Kristy Johnson, Executive Director of The Prizery “It’s a true community effort that helps children see the world with imagination and we are thrilled to see it continue.”

The Pre-K Arts Academy continues to stand as a model of collaboration between arts and education partners, celebrating creativity, inspiring curiosity, and enriching the lives of Halifax County’s children year after year.
