Over 400 Local Students Experience the Magic of Live Theatre The Prizery was filled with laughter, excitement, and a touch of fairy-tale magic as the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte performed Topsy Turvy Cinderella for more than 400 students from across Halifax County and beyond.
Students from Halifax County Public Schools, CH Friend School, Tots and Company, and area homeschool families attended the special performance, which turned the classic Cinderella story upside down with humor, creativity, and heart.
This engaging twist on the timeless fairy tale delighted audiences young and old. With vibrant characters, music, and interactive storytelling, Topsy Turvy Cinderella encouraged students to imagine, laugh, and celebrate the power of kindness and self-confidence.
“The joy and energy in the theatre were incredible,” said Kristy Johnson, Executive Director at The Prizery. “It’s so important for young people to experience live performance — it sparks creativity, builds empathy, and connects them to the arts in a way that’s unforgettable.”
The performance was sponsored by the Southern Virginia Higher Education Foundation and scholarship funds were provided by the Ann and Sterling Edmunds Scholarship for the Arts, helping ensure that students from across the community could experience the magic of live theatre.
The event is part of The Prizery’s ongoing Arts Education and Youth Outreach initiatives, which bring professional theatre and cultural experiences directly to local students.
The Prizery extends special thanks to the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, Halifax County Public Schools, and all participating educators for making this memorable experience possible.
